Eighteen of the 37 members of the CHG's 12SS in 1994 ready for filming. The camouflage uniforms and equipment are accurate for SS Panzergrenadiers in summer 1944. This scene is a very evocative of colour photographs taken at the time of Normandy by SS-PK Woscidlo. The two Chinese side cars have been converted to look like BMW R-12's or R75's. The three tone camouflage on these were used from 1943-1945.
The CHG's 12 SS type 82 Volkswagen Kubelwagen and one of it's two side cars. According to the Panzerdivision type 1944 table of organization and equipment - although the H.J. was at the time organized according to slightly different tables - a panzergrenadier company transported by trucks would be issued with three of the first vehicle and four side cars. The Battalion H.Q. pennant on the Kubelwagen indicates that this team are to temporally assigned to a higher echelon.
An 88mm Raketen-Panzerbuchse 54 also known as an Ofenrohr or Panzerschreck. Every Pz. Div. type 44panzergrenadiere company was theoretically equipped with 18 of these. The H.J. did indeed have this equipment. Although very loud and impressive when fired, this weapon has been converted for reenacting purposes and does not actually launch a projectile.
